Brief History of the Stadium Renovation Initiative
- November 2003 – A small group of South Hadley High School administrators, coaches, parents, and community members met at the request of Mike Roy to discuss the possibility of a grassroots effort to improve the athletic field and surrounding facilities for the benefit of the high school athletes, the recreational department youth programs, and the community at-large.
- January 2004- The newly formed committee received initial approval from the South Hadley School Committee to look into improving the athletic facilities at South Hadley High School.
- March 2004- The committee received approval from the South Hadley School Committee to fundraise and permission to apply for and accept grants.
- October 2004- The committee began a lengthy investigation of the pros and cons of operating as a town committee or as a stand alone committee with for-profit or non-profit 501(c)3 status.
- November 2004- The booster association (B.A.S.H.) supported the initiative by loaning the funds for a conceptual design.
- February 2006- The committee held a Casino Night Fundraiser.
- March 2006- The committee began the process of applying for 501(c)3 status, writing by-laws, and setting goals.
- Spring 2008- The Stadium Renovation Initiative is officially a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
